Some Good News

It's Christmas Eve! Hope all is well with you and your family! Just thought I'd show a couple of pictures we've taken so far, but unfortunately the computer isn't wanting to upload.

Yesterday, my parents, my brother, and his wife came to the Millers' in Richmond for our Christmas together. We found out some good news.....my brother and his wife are expecting their first! She is due in August. They had us each open a gift at the same time...we're kind of slow, so it took a second to process the baby blanket my mom opened. Brent and I received ornaments with "Uncle Brent" and "Aunt Beth" on them. My dad opened his box to see a "baby on board" sign. She's been feeling pretty sick so far, but I'll keep everyone updated on their progress. Of course, Brent says that I can be called "Aunt B", like the character on Andy Griffith. Great! :(

So, come back to see a couple pictures from last night and a couple from this afternoon of Brent, myself, and Alan (and Dusty, too!). I'll try again later!

Have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

New Blog

So, I've decided to work on another blog where I share my craft items that I make. I've had a few people ask me for the third Christmas in a row to make note cards for them, as well as some other items like luggage tags and clipboards. I am going to try to put up pictures of the different items so that I might be able to share with more people. We'll see how it works. Feel free to check it out if you have some free time. I'd be happy to make something for you! (It's still under construction, so be patient!) :)

Hope everyone is ready for Christmas! We start our break this weekend! :) Thanks for the cards we've received so far. Love to hear from you all!

Thanksgiving

It was our turn to visit Abingdon for Thanksgiving this year. We had a good time. We went down last Sunday and came back yesterday evening. The drive down was fine, but boy, the traffic yesterday was not very fun. We decided to take another way back and it, along with the sitting on the interstate, took us an extra couple of hours. We're glad to be back home!

On Tuesday, we got to go down to North Carolina and visit my dad's last living aunt. Ethel turned 100 years old yesterday! Can you believe that! When chatting with her, you'd never believe that she was 100. She can remember so much! Here's a picture of us with Ethel.

Brenda and Charles invited us to their new house for Thanksgiving. It's a beautiful new house! I should have taken a picutre of the outside. But here are a few picutres of our afternoon. There's one of our family with my brother and sister-in-law, bryan and candace. Then, there are a coule of Brenda, Charles, and Lauren with Brenda's brother and his family. Bryan, Lauren, Brent, and Sarah (Lauen's cousin who goes to Furman with Alan) after their long game of Jenga....as you can tell, the boys won.

Brent and I got a chance to go by and see Missy and her little one at her parents. He's crawling around everywhere and pulling himself up with no problem. I bet he'll be walking before you know it!

We shopped till we dropped, so I'm almost completly finished with our Christmas list. Brent just headed out with his FUMA buddies to go into town to shop.....I'm sure that'll be interesting!

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving! Love to hear from you soon!

November 14, 2006

Nothing much going on around here. I only have Friday scheduled for subbing this week so far, so I've been trying to get things done around the house before we head out for our week-long Thanksgiving break. We're heading in to Abingdon this year. I hope to see Missy and Quentin during our visit. I've been working on getting all our Christmas shopping out of the way (cause you know how i HATE shopping!) :) I'm even trying to make a few presents this year. I'm kind of breaking my rule of "nothing Christmas before Thanksgiving". I even went so far as to watch "Trapped in Paradise" Sunday. Cute Christmas-y movie if you haven't seen it. We have another beautiful day today, so I probably better take Dusty on a nice long walk. He sure gets his energy built up on rainy days! But, I guess the walk is good for me, too! Have a great Tuesday!

Julie and Brad's wedding

We just got back from a beautiful wedding in Norfolk. My friend Julie, who I used to work with in Richmond, was married to Brad Fairbanks. As you'll see from the pictures, it was an outdoor wedding at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. Yes, it was a bit chilly, but it turned out beautiful (check out the pic of all the grandparents huddled together under their blankets. I got to visit with some of my other SCC co-workers. It turned out to be a nice mini-vacation for us. I'm back in Fork Union (Brent stayed in Richmond so he could attend a conference tomorrow). I get to babysit for a FUMA family starting at 6:45 am! Yikes! Thought I would post the pictures before I went to bed. Enjoy!

October 29, 2006

What a beautiful day today! I hope you are enjoying one just the same.

Yeserday was an open house for the middle school. I babysat the Director of Admission's 2 kids while Brent had to give campus tours. Hopefully, we will gain a few more cadets. Our numbers are kind of low. Brent has duty today....that means he gets to hang out with all the middle school boys from 3 until 10 pm...he's SO thrilled :)

I'll be subbing a few days this week, maybe babysitting a little girl on Wednesday, then we're off to Brad and Julie's wedding in Norfolk on Saturday! I can't wait! I hope to have a few pictures....if I remember to take them!

Hope you remembered to change you clocks....I just have to make sure I got them all! Enjoy your day!

I'M BACK !!!

Yes, that's right folks....I haven't fallen off the ends of the earth. I have just finished a long-term sub position, so I'm back at home ready to surf the net and catch up with the world!

Summer was great. We spent another 7 weeks at Camp Virginia. Dusty spent his summer at "Camp Brickwood". He spent his 7 weeks at a boarding kennel not far from us. I hated every miute of leaving him there, but he came home a-ok. I took the Praxis II exam again the day we left camp. But, unfortunately, I was four points from Virginia's passing score. I haven't gotten the wind to sign up again. If only I had passed, I would have received my Virginia License and could have been offered the job I was subbing for as a full-time position. Oh well, things happend for a reason, I guess. I plan to fill in for another teacher at the beginning of the year. That will be something to look forward to starting.

I have officially been sucked into the world of myspace. Yes, you read that correctly....the main reason is that I have come back into contact with so may old friends and classmates, both from high school and college. It's so new to me right now that I'm always on (like I used to be with blogspot! :) Check it out some time...you might just find people you had totally forgotten about! My site is www.myspace.com/elizabeth_h_miller

Also, we bought a mac laptop a couple of weeks ago (I just love sitting on my couch suring the net!) It has ichat, which is totally mind-boggling to me, but if anyone has it, let me know....we can chat. I've done it a couple of times with Missy....so cool!

I'll leave you with a couple of pics....Enjoy! Promise I'll be back! :)

Visiting the SCC ladies with Missy and Quentin.
