Sorry, I have been slack about posting. :) Yesterday was my brother, Bryan's 31st birthday. I found out that he and his wife have purchased a lot in a subdivision so they can build a house. That's an exciting birthday gift! Yesterday also marked the "one month" countdown until my last day here at work!!!!!! (*a collective cheer is expected!*) :) I'm really excited about the summer that is ahead for Brent and myself! We're having dinner tonight with Kenny and Boomba, the couple who runs Camp Virginia. They have invited us, as well as one other camp couple, over for dinner. It will be fun to talk about what the summer might hold.
I agreed to babysit tomorrow night for the DeWitts. I'll try to get a couple of pictures, if I remember my camera, of the handsome boys, John(7) and Mark(4), and their beautiful little sister, Caroline(11 mths). They're a nice group of kids. Then, at 10am on Saturday, it's the weekend with the Coleman boys. Brent will be busy elsewhere the majority of the time, so it'll be just me and the boys....I hope they're ok with that! They sure do like playing with Brent. I might be sitting for their cousins, the Thomas' on sunday night. But, that's still up in the air. I hope to continue my relationship with these great families after we move to Fork Union.

What an enjoyable weekend! Friday morning, we had John's retirement party. Brent got to take care of Julie's dog, Cody, while we were at work. Cody hung out with him while he was mulching the Miller's yard. He's a great dog. The party was fun. The scrapbook that Kathy and I worked on was a hit. We ended up spending more than we planned to on the party. Oh well. Wednesday is "Administrative Professional's Day", so we're gathering more money to purchase Diane a gift card. Anyway, Friday night, Brent had a basketball game at 10pm....yes, that's right folks....10 o'clock in the EVENING on a FRIDAY NIGHT! Crazy. But, it was fun. So, it was late to bed that night. But, sleeping in on Saturday was so nice. I felt very productive, too. I vacuumed the couch, chair, and everything else downstairs. The pollen was covering everything. I even worked on giving the upstairs bathroom a good scrubbing. Laundry, Laundry, Laundry. It feels so good to do something productive.
Brent went out and bought a new CD case so that he could organize ALL his cds. I thought I had a lot! NOPE! We do have a lot of duplicates, though. He worked hard to alphabetize and group them by genre. We had 2 over-flowing grocery bags full of empty cd cases. (It made him mad, though, because he found more at his parents house, so he had to rearrange everything last night!)
That evening, we went to the Millers to help with an engagement party they were hosting for a friend at church, Carl, and his fiance, Jane. They are a cute couple who are probably in their early 40s, and never been married (that I know of). I had made these notcards which said, "The Key to a Happy Marriage...", which we put together in a flip photoframe, titled, "Carl and Jane's Keys to a Happy Marriage". It was decorated with musical notes. Carl is very musical. Someone did a similar gift for us for one of our showers. I thought it was something personal that they wouldn't already have. Boy, were some funny comments written...."Carl: worship Jane" and "#1: always say 'Yes, dear'." It was a fun evening. But, we didn't get home til after midnight.
Needless to say, I was beat on Sunday. I took a majorly long nap at the Millers. There's just something about their couch! I was able to do some more cleaning when we got home. But, I wasn't able to sleep well last night. Hopefully, I can tonight. It's cold today, and mom said they had about half and inch of snow in Abingdon yesterday. I'm ready for the warm weather to stay!
It looks like this is going to be an eventful week. Tomorrow, Brent has another basketball game....at 6:30, which is MUCH better! Wednesday, church until the wee hours. Thursday, dinner at Kenny and Boomba's (we're getting to meet another young couple who'll be at the second session of camp). Friday, take a breath, then Saturday-Sunday, babysitting the Coleman boys overnight. Whew! Glad I got the things around the house done this weekend.
Hope everyone is seeing less yellow on their cars and such. Hope you have had a good Monday so far and have a great week to come.

Can the pollen BE anymore annoying!?! Man, it looks like we've been sprinkled with yellow powdered sugar. It's everywhere....even in the house (b/c I was dumb enough to leave the front window open!) But, rain is in the forcast, so I hope it will wash it ALL away.
My boss is back, so I'm planning on handing in my letter of resignation today. I'm so excited. Just a little over a month to go! We've been working on a scrapbook for our coworker who is retiring. It has been fun to do something creative over lunch. I LOVE IT! I'm ready to get back to the one I started after the wedding. I have so many pictures from showers and such. Plus, I recieved so many great scrapbooking items at Christmas. I'm ready to have at them. Maybe, I'll take it all to camp!
Tonight, we may go see "Oliver!" at Steward. Katie Perkins is one of the lead roles. (Katie Perkins was named to the Richmond Times-Dispatch's All Metro Team for field hockey. Times-Dispatch sportswriters select the best public and independent school players in the Richmond metropolitan area. Katie is the goalie and has played for Steward's Varsity Field Hockey team for five years.) Brent was Oliver, himself, in the 5th grade. It was for the high school play at Collegiate. I've yet to see the video! What a performer he is! :) He's even having to do a lot for the Broadway Dinner Theatre at church. (luckily, I'm just one of the nuns singing a Sister Act medley). Then, tomorrow is basketball for Brent; Saturday, engagement party for Carl and Jane from church; Sunday, well, the usual. Hopefully, I'll get some things accomplished around the house (like cleaning up the pollen!!) Next weekend is our overnight job with the Coleman boys. Next Wednesday is my brother, Bryan's birthday. Man, things are starting to get busy!

Good News: The contract is signed and has been hand-delivered! Whew! It's official now.
Brent received the contract in the mail on Friday. We had a couple of questions before signing it. Saturday morning, we took Emily LaPlante to the Village Green Fair at Collegiate. It was a beautiful day. Afterwards, we headed up to Fork Union for the track meet. Brent found Col. Miller, the Dean of the school, who corrected the items of question on the contract. Brent signed it and Col. Miller took it back to his office. It's nice to have met him. We also were able to visit an apartment like where we will be living. It is smaller than where we are now, but it was nice to have had a first-hand look.
We are planning to store a lot of our things that we know we don't want to use yet, like some of our nice wedding gifts, at my grandmother's house in Tennessee. My mom rents the house now, and keeps the back room for storage. We plan on taking the stuff down when we visit Abingdon this summer. It's only another hour and a half to Morristown (near Knoxville). It will be much cheaper than paying for storage, and we know we don't have any time-limits on how long we can use it. God sure does provide!
We have started throwing out things we don't need, as well as placing other items we know we don't need aside for a yard sale. We've bought a couple extra storage bins to store winter sweaters and such. I also bought a trunk for camp, and I have begun to place in it items that I will need for the summer. I just hope I have enough left out for the times inbetween the beach, camp, and FUMA. I also hope I remember what I've put where! :) It's a good feeling to downsize. Things are a mess right now, but they'll get better eventually.
I plan on turning in my letter as soon as my boss returns from the job he's on this week. That's the next big thing to check off my list. Then, it will be official for me!
My brother sold his house yesterday! He's been trying to do so for a while. I think they're closing at the end of May. Pray they find a new house soon!
We're going to work on a scrapbook at lunch which we're giving our co-worker who's retiring. We're having his party on Friday. So, fun craft-time at lunch! :)

Woo Hoo for FRIDAY ! ! ! It appears to be a nice day outside, so I'm excited about getting out in it in an hour and a half! Last night, we went to the U of R BSU meeting. Brent and two of his BTSR classmates (who also were UR grads) spoke. It was fun. The three of them were talking of old times and how things have changed....I didn't know any of what they were talking about, of course. But, it was a fun evening.
When we got home, Brent started boxing up books. We're planning on boxing up or throwing out a lot this weekend. Never hurts to start early! He ran into the FUMA head of the middle school at Collegiate yesterday. He's going to leave Brent a bunch of material that he can pick up when he's at FUMA for the track meet tomorrow. Nice!
I get to hang out with the wonderful Emily LaPlante tomorrow. Her mom asked if I would take her to the Village Green Fair at Collegiate in the morning while she goes to some meeting. How fun! Then, I plan on heading up to FUMA myself. It will be nice to see things and meet people, hopefully.
Last night on Prime Time Live, on ABC, they did a story on kids who spend pilot season time in Hollywood. There is a girl from Collegiate who is doing just that. She was one of the 5 kids featured on the program. Check out her website. Her name is Diandra Newlin. She models, sings, and acts. She was even in a Faith Hill video. Cool stuff!
Ok, it's time to go celebrate Agatha's birthday! Yum...Cake! Have a wonderful weekend!

Beautiful day, again, outside! I hope tomorrow is the same so that I can at least be out in it for a while. I'm planning on going to Fork Union on Saturday for a little while. Brent has a track meet there, so he said he might be able to introduce me to some people. Plus, I might be able to see what our housing might look like. It's forcasted to be a nice day.
Brent came and had lunch with me today. It was nice of him to stop by. We are going to the University of Richmond BSU tonight. They want some of the BTSR students to speak about why they went to seminary and where they are going with their degree. Brent graduated from UofR. It should be fun.
Still waiting on that contract...I'm so nervous about it, but Brent is calm. I'm glad we balance one another out! Hopefully, it will come by tomorrow and we can hand-deliver it back on Saturday. I'll keep you posted.

Today is nice outside. Not as warm as hoped for, but still pleasant. I have spent today working with numbers. I've been calculating how much leave time I have; what date I can leave work; how many remaining vacation hours I will not used, yet get paid for; when my insurance will end; when we have to buy new insurance; when our FUMA insurance will begin; how much I have in retirement already; what to do with the retirement money; andwhen is the last possible date of my sanity! :) (just kidding, of course, on the last one). I just want to make sure we are being good stewards of what we've been given. It is going to be an adventure, but we can do it. What better time in our life to try?!
I'm excited about what is to come. I'm excited about going to camp. It will be new for me, but I hope to be useful and helpful, as well as have a time to reflect on all God has been doing for us, while enjoying his creation. (every last creature in it....!) We can do this! :) It's time for me to stop being such a pesimist and start living by the faith I proclaim to have. God is good! (And, just as a side note, any donations or contributions to the Miller Poverty Fund can be sent to: 1329 Lauderdale Drive, Richmond, VA 23238, ASAP! :) just kidding!!!!!!!!

It's a beautiful spring day outside! I wish I could be out in it! We had a good weekend. Friday night, I sat for the Coleman boys. Since Brent had a basketball game, I brought a Tonka watch from a kid's meal I had the other day, hopefully to make Clay happy. It worked :) Saturday morning, it was up at 7am to meet everyone at church who was doing the Ukrops Monument Avenue 10K. It was a lot of fun. I'll be sure to put up the link to the official pictures taken when they become available online Thursday.
After the race, I went to pick up Amelia. We sat for her saturday afternoon til sunday afternoon. She was good. She's an only child, and she loves when someone new comes around to play with her. She wore me out! Both Brent and I took a well-deserved nap yesterday afternoon!
SOOOooooo, Brent called FUMA this morning to tell them his decision. They are sending him a contract to sign. We are supposed to get some more answers today to questions we have posed about insurance, housing, etc. The answers won't sway our decision, but they will help figure out our summer timeline. Looks like I just might be going to Camp, too :) Bug spray, here I come!
I'm really excited about everything. We feel like now is the time in our lives to make these kind of changes and experience these adventures. The Lord has provided for us in the past, and we trust He will provide in the time to come. The summer will be tight, but we feel it will be worth it. A moving sale will definately be in the agenda to make a couple extra bucks! Our new place is a bit smaller than our current apartment. We've acquired so much junk! It all can not go with us. We might as well try to make a couple of extra dollars off of it.
I'll be sure to keep everyone up to date! Now, go out and enjoy this beautiful day!

Interview Update
Well, Brent just called a little bit ago. He was probably at FUMA for 3 hours. I was hoping that would be a good sign. Apparently, the interview went really well! :) The position has changed a bit and would include teaching middle school English and History, along with the Chaplain duties. They even discussed salary, which includes the on campus housing. It is what I make now alone. I have a feeling we'd be in the good starting off. We're going to discuss the details tonight. It sounds like we could possibly move into the housing in July, but he technically wouldn't start until August. SOOOooooo......the Lord is really blessing us with this opportunity. It's not a done deal yet. He is going to call them on Monday to tell them his decision. I am really excited and hopeful about this situation. Thank you for all the prayers. I'll be sure to keep you updated!

TODAY'S THE DAY......! Brent has his interview at Fork Union at 11:30am. My stomach is turning, just hoping things work out. I'm going to be praying hard all day for this. I ask for your prayers, too. I just don't want to be disappointed, yet, I want God to do His will. I pray for patience and peace. I'll update if I hear anything.

Today, it is forcasted to be 80 and sunny! How exciting.....yet, how unfortunate that I'll be stuck inside my cubical for the most of the day. I hope to take a walk at lunch. I find out almost every day what a small world in which we live. Our secretary at work, Diane, grew up with our Abingdon Orthodontist, Cramer Boswell. We realized the connection after Missy's wedding. Yesterday, she brought her high school year book with his picture. Funny. So, today, I bought in one so that she could see his sons, which I went to school with. I also found out a couple of weeks ago that a lady at our church grew up across the street from my family doctor in Abingdon. My mom is friends with his wife. They have retired and have moved to Charleston...lucky! I guess there's something about doctors and Abingdon! :)
Brent has his Fork Union interview tomorrow.....I'm so excited that I can't stand it. I pray that things go well and we find out soon either way what they decide. I really am praying for this opportunity to turn out in our favor. He still has the Friday interview with Kenston Forest. They want him to teach a Civil Rights lesson to a 12th grade Government class....not easy. I tried to find him material he could use, and it turns out that there is a Civil Rights Educational Trail that runs through their town of Blackstone. I've heard the school was formed during the time of integration. I doubt it would be a good idea to bring that up. We'll see what he decides to teach.
I'm glad to hear that people are enjoying Kelly's wedding pictures. I'd love to see more, myself! Well, I have a lot of work that is due by the end of the day. What a weekend! The wedding was beautiful, and it was great to hang out with old friends. It didn't seem like almost 4 years had passed since i had seen some of the people! Thursday, Brent picked me up after work and we drove to Salisbury, NC to stay the evening. We stopped off at Cracker Barrel for dinner...SO GOOD! Then, Friday morning, we left to meet Alan at Furman for lunch. STICKEY FINGERS!!!! yes! After that, it was off to Kelly's parents house in Lawrenceville. Everyone was there getting ready. So much fun! We piled in our cars and made it to the rehearsal at the church for a couple of practice runs. Then, off to Journey's End for the dinner. Good stuff! We had the chance to see Kelly and Josh's new house after the dinner. It is so nice....we're envious!
The next day (wedding day), we woke up to Mrs. Lindsay cooking us bacon and french toast for breakfast! What a sweet lady! It was delicious. Kelly's cousin, Sonia, came over and worked on hair before we left for the church to finish getting ready. We were all relieved to see that our dresses fit! whew! Pictures were fun, then it was back to the bridal room to stuff our faces with snacks (only because the dresses were on and fitting!) All the bridesmaids had a lot of fun getting to know one another throughout the weekend.
The wedding was beautiful. It was over before we knew it! More pictures, then off to the reception. The food was wonderful....and not to mention the chocolate fondue fountain! It was so much fun to watch all the dancing. After Mr. and Mrs. Tompkins left, we all returned to the Lindsay house. Sunday morning, it was time to say goodbye...one group at a time. I'm sure Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay are glad to have a bit of peace and quiet now! Today is the day that Josh and Kelly leave for their honeymoon in Jamaica.
It was a great weekend. We're glad to be home, though. It was a long drive yesterday. It helps that daylight savings gave us an hour longer of light! Hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend, as well! Love to hear from ya!

Thursday, Brent picked me up after work and we drove to Salisbury, NC to stay the evening. We stopped off at Cracker Barrel for dinner...SO GOOD!
